If you've ever been to Longwood Gardens, you know what I'm talking about when I say "Fun with Flowers" or really plants of all kinds. So many gardens inside and out of roses, lilies, gardenias, bamboo, daisies, orchids, palms, etc.,etc., etc. This is an awesome, awe-inspiring experience for any age. In fact, there is something for everyone. There's even an inside children play area.
We decided to join some friends last weekend to experience the 8:15 p.m. water show, that is newer at the gardens. The fountains are set up to coordinate with the music and the music was from the many "queens of soul", from Aretha Franklin, Etta James, The Supremes, and many others. It was beautiful. What impressed me the most was the times when fire spouted from the middle of the many fountains. How'd they do that??!! Amazing and impressive.
The fountains were in operation before the evening show and I've included some pictures here for your enjoyment.
Longwood Gardens is actually fairly inexpensive to tour the many gardens, inside and out, and for every season there are different displays. I highly recommend visiting during the Christmas season. It's magical.
Longwood Gardens is located in Chester County, Kennett Square in PA. Travelling from Mount Joy, PA, it took us approx. 1 hr. 20 minutes to get there. At this time of year, they have unique Beer Gardens set up with live bands, and music set up here. There was also a duo of players of violin and cello near the fountains area. Lots of music, but the show at 8:15 p.m. could not be topped.
It's relatively inexpensive to obtain a season ticket. But, if you just want to go for the day, tickets run about $25 for adults/$13 for ages 5-18/free for children 4 qnd under and $22 for college students and seniors aged 62 and over. Tickets during the Christmas season run about $5 higher on average per ticket, but well worth it!
