Great trips and activities: Steamboat Springs, CO

Hey again, travel gurus. Time to share some great trip experiences with you. I hope you will find these trip reviews helpful with details on great things to do in these great places. We have been so blessed to have these experiences and I'm very blessed to be sharing these with you. It's definitely more interesting stuff than sharing details on how to play the card game that pays off in travel rewards. I'll be doing more of that in the future, but also balancing that out with more travel experiences, fun things to do in great travel destinations and the costs (if any) of some of the great activities you can also experience when visiting these great destinations.

First blog stop....Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

What a wonderful place, in spring, summer, fall or winter. During the winter, there's excellent skiing here for more experienced skiers due to the more challenging hills.

First day of our 3 day visit:

We woke early in the morning and headed to the natural hot springs. It's $20 per person to access the hot springs, but it's like a natural hot tub. Best time to visit is in the morning in the summer, when it's cooler and the water feels wonderful. Of course, there's a very cold pool there, too, in case you are a very brave soul. NOTE: The cold pool is cold enough to lock up the muscles and cause hypothermia, so swim fast! Also, if you're feeling really bold, the pools are clothing optional at night.

Later in the day, we headed to the top of the mountain on the ski lift, which is $20 per person. It's a very enjoyable, relaxing ride up the mountain. I braved this trip as I'm not really keen on heights, but there are some pretty amazing sights on this ride of the valley below and the surrounding area. Plus, there are some trails to hike up at the top, and those who have mountain bikes can put their bikes on the lift and bike down the mountain on very cool mountain bike trails. Once you pay the $20, you can ride up and down as much as you want for the entire day.

Day 2:

Took a hike to Fish Creek Falls, a beautiful waterfall with an awesome hiking trail. YOu can go further than the falls and continue on the trail This is also best to do during the cooler hours of the day. Only $5 parking fee to hike to the falls.

After hiking, we travelled down to the town and experienced the Bottanical gardens in Steamboat Springs. The garden experience is free and also very beautiful and amazing with many different types of plants and flowers and some very beautiful displays, as well as ponds and rock gardens.

Then, leisurely walking around the town and stopping into the various shops in town and lunch. Then, ice cream!

That evening, we all got ready and headed out to the Rodeo. Seems like most activities in town during the summer are $20 per person, including the Rodeo. This was a professional rodeo and I took videos. Unfortunately, witnessed a bullrider get pummeled!

Day 3:

Headed back toward Denver after our wonderful days in Steamboat Springs. Had it on our minds to go horseback riding, so we booked riding with AA Stables in Idaho Springs for $65 per person for a 1 1/2 hr trail ride. Lauren, Elisa and I spent a lovely, leisurely, afternoon with our great rides for 1 1/2 hrs. on the trails, through the woods and hills of Idaho Springs. NOthing more calming, peaceful and relaxing to do! Riding is most definitely good for the soul. I'd recommend to anyone!

Final thoughts on this trip is that it is definitely one of the most memorable experiences of Colorado that we've had. A great time that I could recommend to anyone...at least during the summer. I'm sure all you skiers would have an amazing experience in winter, as well.

Signing off for now, travel gurus. Next time, I'll share more travel experiences and maybe some more tips on how to find great travel deals.
