How to travel-getting started

Hey there, travel gurus or travel newbie. Whichever you are, there's always something new to learn about travelling. What I want to share with you on this site is all the travel tips I can possibly share to help you on your way.

Perhaps you need some help just getting started. You want to travel, but believe it is beyond your budget or perhaps you are looking for a new way to travel. Perhaps you keep travelling to the same place year after year and need a change. Or, perhaps you think it's just too expensive to travel. In many cases, it is fear that keeps us from exploring everything we want to explore.

It is a similar feeling to starting a new job, new career, or making the decision to start a family. Really, though, deciding where/when/how/what you want to get out of travel is a much smaller decision than any of those things I just mentioned. It can still be a daunting task about how to get started, but it can be a much smaller decision than your career decision or having kids.

My family and I are here to support your choices and help you on your way to travel within your budget.

Whether it be a camping trip, day trip, overnight, for the week or month. Whether it be to a certain region of the world, by boat, plane or automobile, these are all personal decisions to be made based on your interests and your budget.

We've travelled all over the world. We've done short weekend trips via Airbnb, VRBO, hotels; camped in tents, cabins and campers. We've travelled by cruise, planes to tropical destinations, and by car to places within the U.S. We've travelled to beaches and the mountains, to visit friends and relatives in far away places and on business trips. We've had many experiences from walking the streets of San Francisco to see the Painted Ladies, to the mountains of North Carolina to visit Biltmore, to Canada to see Niagara Falls to Las Vegas to Coronado and San Diego, to Dallas and San Antonio to the Rocky Mountains and the Grand Canyon, to Tampa, Florida and Myrtle Beach, SC. We've visited Rome, Venice, Athens, Monte Carlo, Santorini, Florence, Croatia, Munich, Frankfort, London, Paris, the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento. We've visited countless tropical islands, including Puerto Rico more than a few times, St. John, etc., etc.

The point is, we've travelled many places and experienced many things that we can share with you to help you decide where you may want to start and how.

In my future posts, I will share how to get started and tips on how to budget for your trip.

I can tell you that many of our trips have been taken with $0 spent on plane trips.

We've flown roundtrip to Hawaii, first class, for $0 on the plane trip. We've gotten trips with Southwest for two years where we had a free companion ticket. We normally travel to hotels for $0.

Much of our travel expenses are paid using the point system. As I continue to my posts and share these tips and tricks, you'll learn how to set up your own system to earn free trips, either free plane trips or free hotels, and places to stay. This takes planning and preparation.

I'll also share with you how to budget for various activities for your trip and how to select various activities, as well as tips and tricks on travelling. What to pack, not pack, how to maneuver through airports and how to get extra perks.

Looking forward to our next post where we will begin to share some basics of how to get started planning for your own travel and adventures.

Au revoir for now, friends. See you soon!

Love sent from the Schmeck family!
